473. New blog for Leo and other Reptile news and information

As a result of us opening up a retail Pet shop we have set up a new blog where we list our hatchlings and other stock which is located at http://waveneypetandreptile.blogspot.co.uk/2014/05/waveney-pet-reptile.html We also have a Waveney pet and reptile facebook page where you can see what we have been up to over the last 12 months.

472. Well eventually we got to 10.

We have been very busy in the past month and are well behind in making anoucements about hatches. The babe show in this piccy hatched out 08/06/2013. Not too sure who the parents are but at hatch she/he had a mixed Mack Snow and wild type colouration. So suspect this one is one of Maggies and mack puzzles offspring. This one was our 10th hatch of the season. Sticking with the food and drink theme we have named this babe Spam.

471. We have now accelerated up to Mach 2.

This little Mack snow has just hatched today (25/05/2013) after a 49 day incubation. Parents are Maggie and D-ream. Given this one the name of Mack Muffin. He or she looks a very good 3 gram.

470. Phew rushed off our feet with 3 in a day

This is boiled egg who has hatched out this afternoon. He/she is the sibling to Dumpling in post 468 so both have the same parental biography.

469. Mang-tout fantastico

Indeed always fantastico when we have an African fatso hatch out. This is Mange tout who forced his/her way out of the egg at lunch break today (20/05/2013). All of which came after 70 days of incubation, seems African fatsos always do seem to take longer to incubate than Leopard Geckos. With a look of the eye we estimate Mange tout was thereabout 3 gram at hatch. Parens are our African fatso breeding crew Nelson and Polokwane. Fingers are crossed for the sibling egg to hatch which looks in ripe condition.

468. We always like our Dumplings

A big welcome to little dumpling who we found hatched out at the break of Dawn thuis morning (20/05/2013). According to our records Dumplings incubation took 53 days. As a looking estimate he/she is about a 3 gram hatch. Parents are Poppy and Dinkum who both have a hint of red stripe in them. Maybe they will pass some of the strip onto Dumpling?

467. Toast almost the perfect twin for Cheese

This is Toast who has just jumped out of the egg this morning (06/05/2013). She/he is the sibling of Cheese in post 466. So all the biographic details are the same apart from an extra day for incubation.

466. More Cheese please.

This is Cheese who wre found hatched out this morning (05/05/2013). His/her incubation period was a very ponderous 61 days. Parents are Dinkum and Poppy and we are expecting Cheese will turn out to be a hypo. Weight at hatch was estimated at 2 gram.

465. Meet the parents for the 2013 breeding season (round 6 # 2).

Just put these two lovebirds togewther this afternoon (29/04/2013). The female is Karelin, she is the bright coloured hypo. Must say the photo of her is very flattering as she does not look so bright and tangerine in the flesh. Must have got some really good light rays shining on them when we took the photo. The male is our regular returning stud D-ream. This is his 6th mating excursion for the season.

464. The Bronze medal winner is?

Third hatch of the season who we have discovered in the last hour (29/04/2013) is a cracking Mack snow with a bit of jungle on the shoulders. Having rearranged and sorted our eggs out mid incubation we are a bit perplexed as to who the parents are. that said we have narrowed it down to the Sire being either D-ream or Mack puzzle, both Mack morph enigmas. That would make the Dam either Slinky or Bauble who are again Mack morphs. Incubation period, as based on these two parental options is either 58 or 61 days. Calling this baby Haggis and it looks a good 3 gram in weight.

463. Meet the parents for the 2013 breeding season (round 6 # 1).

It has been a poor season so far in terms of succesful hatches with only a meagre two to date. We just seem to be getting clutch aftyer clutch of infertile eggs. However, we have still quite a few pair up to go and are hoping for a better second half to the season. The pair shown in this picture were put together 24/04/2013. The female is the supersnow and is called Fantasia. The male is mackpuzzle a Mack enigma who is getting his 6th mate of the seaon.

462. Meet the parents for the 2013 breeding season (round 5 # 5).

This couple of Tremper red eyed eclipse have just been put together today (14/04/2013). The one on the right is the female who is called Antwerp. The male is Smash. Both are het for Diablo Blanco and our fingers are crossed we might get some cracking babies from this pairing.

461. Meet the parents for the 2013 breeding season (round 5 # 4).

Just managed to get piccy of this pair before the the quality of daylight dipped for today. Both this pair are both good sized animals and the female is always reliable and copes well with the strains of breeding. The lighter one is mackpuzzle our male Mack enigma. The female is a fairly pale hypo called Patio.

460. Meet the parents for the 2013 breeding season (round 5 # 3).

This is the fourth bunk up of the year for our African fatso Nelson. He is the albino in the piccy. His mate that we have paired him up with today is Tulu who is a very attractive wild type stripe. Whilst African fatsos are often tempermental when it comes to breeding, with us only producing one baby last year, we have got our fingers crossed for more this time around.

459. Meet the parents for the 2013 breeding season (round 5 # 2).

Pictured are another pair we have just put together in the last few minutes. Lighter one is D-ream our male dreamsickle, though we might add he have still not got any offspring off him yet to prove his morph credentials. That said he is a fine looking specimen and will surtey contaminate some of his gennes and looks into any offspring he does produce. Hence the reason he is doing stud duties on this ocassion with our fairly plain hypo called Balti.

458. Meet the parents for the 2013 breeding season (Round 5 # 1).

As round five implies its fifth time of asking for Einstien to perform his stud duties in 2013. He is the big bruiser of a Bell with a bit of broad strip on his shoulder in the piccy. On this occasion he is perfoming his stud duties with the petite Gravitas and Bell sunglow, and we think also a bit of enigma. We say petite as she is coming up for 2 years old and has never been over 55 gram. Breeding smaller stock always raises concerns but Leos are considered as adult at around 18 months of age. Therefore we have concluded Gravitas is naturally small and achived full size.

457. Pre Easter 2013 breeding report.

Currently we have two healthy hatchlings. We also had another that died during the process of hatching a few days back. So in comparison to this time last year with our two hatchlings we are in an identical postion. Our next hatches are expected in about 14 days time after which the rate of hatch should pick up considerably with the possibility of 25-30 hatches in April 2013. our total number of good eggs this season to date was at 57 this morning. We have also had a few slugs to add to the overall total of eggs produced this season.

456. Silver medalist for being second hatch of the seaon.

This is the sibling of Chucky egg pictured in post 454. Keeping with our theme we have given him/her the name of Toblerone. She/he hatched out yesterday (25/03/2013) a couple hours after Chucky egg. Both are estimated at about 2 gram. Parents are Poppy and Dinkum.

455. Hatchling names for 2013

Rather than an impersonal number we always like to give all our hatchlings a name. Last year our naming theme was the Olympics and Greek mythology. For this year we are using a theme of food and drink to name or babes. Hence, the name of Chucky egg given to our first hatchling of 2013 who is pictured in the previous post.

454. And the winner is ?

The gold medal award for the first hatchling of 2013 goes to Chucky egg who we have got pictured here. After a 55 day incubation she/he decided to crack the egg this afternoon (25/03/2013). Sadly we did have another hatchling yesterday but it was found dead and blue half in and half out of the egg. Sad but that is the way of nature. As for chucky egg she is sired by Dinkum a broad stripe with shades of red. From the look of the patterns on chucky egg looks like the broad stripe might have been passed on.
