285. Wednesday's child

This hatchling broke out yesterday wednesday 30th May 2012. Interesting little normal with 2 blobs at the back and also interesting parentage. Dam is Meriva an aberant normal and sire is kabul our pure Afghanicus stud. Weight looks about 3 gram and incubation was 52 days. We have named it Silver.

284. Tuesday treat

This normal wild type baby is a hatch from yesterday Tuesday 29th May 2012. From our records we are fairly sure the parents are Mohammad and Lynn. Hatch weight is estimated at 3 gram and incubation was 50 days. Given it the name of Gold.

283. Synchronised Sunday Mack

This little one has been Christened Synchronised and hatched yesterday Sunday 27/05/2012. Nice chunky hatchling which looks about 4 gram. Parents are Fanta and Slurm. So far this season they are giving us supersnows and a previous Mack Snow/TUG looking offspring. Hoping we might get some TUG characteristics from this one. Incubation period was 55 days.

282. What looks like the babe in post 280?

Answer is this baby which has hopped out of the egg today (26/05/2012)and is the sibling to the baby in post 280. Given it the name of Bobsled. Hatch weight is a nice chunky 4 grams. Bit of a fiesty beast as it was giving me a 4 gram love bite whilst we were moving it into place for its mug shot.

281. The unknown Gecko

This baby hatched out today 26/05/2012 and we think it may be the sibling to the baby shown in post 279 made yesterday. Reasoning behind the title for this post is explained in post 279. Apart from one day extra incubation all the unknown biographic details match those for the babe in post 279. Given this one the name Torch.

280. Now it's hat-trick Friday

This normal wild type is our third new born so far today 25/05/2012. Also still four more hours left in the day for another one. Proud parents are Mohammad and Benazir who are both 100% Macularius wild caught bloodline Leos. A nice chunky baby which looks about 4 gram. Incubation was 51 days and the sibling egg alongside looks good. this one has been name Triple Jumper.

279. One more Tremper out of the egg.

This one has arrived this afternoon 25/05/2012. We are a bit perplexed on the parentage as the eggs in the container have got a bit mixed. We should have better idea when we get the chance to see if it has red eyes. If so the Papa will be Max Planck with the dam being Scarlett or Duchess. If plain eyes and a hint of sunglow patternation papa will prove to be Helios and Mamma Currant bun. Hatch weight was 2 gram and incubation period 50 or 51 days. Has been named Kierin.

278. Blimey the weather outside is scorching but we just keep on getting supersnow.

This baby was an early morning hatch today 25/05/2012 and is the supersnow sibling of the baby in post 276. Only difference is 2 days longer incubation and a bit fatter at 4 gram. Has been named Luge.

277. Our population of red eye Tremper eclipses continues to grow.

The Tremper red eyed eclipse baby shown below hatched out yesterday afternoon 24/05/2012 following a 56 day incubation. Parents are Jungle Rock and Max Planck. Weight wise it looks about 3 gram. Fingers are crossed for the sibling to hatch but the egg does look pretty manky.

276. It's May but supersnow keeps on falling in Lowestoft

This is the third hatch from yesterday 23/05/2012. It is our fourth supersnow hatch this season. This time it is the prodigy of Rob Roy and Maggie. Hatch weight looks to be approx 3 gram and incubation took 51 days. given this babe the name of Hera. Must apologise for the quality of the picture. We think we get too much glare from the RUBS box.

275. Second baby today

Immediate incubator check striaght from work this afternoon revealed our second baby hatch for today (23/05/2012). This is the sibling of Hippodameia who hatched a couple of days ago and notified on post 273. pretty much the same biographic details apart from a hatch weight of 4 grams and 52 days for incubation. Given it the name of Omnium.

274. Early morning riser.

Found this baby in the incubator this morning (23/05/2012) and took a snap straight away. Looks like it is still a bit wet behind the ears with perlite still stuck to it. Named it delphia. From its first image we can say it is a definite normal and a very dark one. The dark wild/rugged look comes straight from the Sire kabul who is a 100 % pure Afghanicius whom we imported from PACHERP. The Dam is Whoopi who also has very dark tones and very unique micro spotting. hatch weight is estimated at 2 gram and incubation took 50 days.

Tuesday, 22 May 2012

273. A nice little bit of Jungle

This baby hatched out last night 21/05/2012. As you might be able to see it is a normal with a little bit of jungle pattern on it which is probably passed on from the Sire Isuzu. The Dam is Demerara. Hatch weight is estimated at approx 3 gram and incubation took 50 days. Continuing with the Greek/Olympic spirit we have named her Hippodameia.

Sunday, 20 May 2012

272. We are on a red eye run.

This is the sibling of the Tremper baby uploaded a couple of posts earlier in the day. This one hatched out today 20/05/2012 and looks about 3 gram. Only other biographic detail that is different to Velodrome is a couple of days extra for the incubation at 55 days. This tot is called Baton.

271 30 UP - 2012 breeding seaon update

30 UP. Hazel our Mack RAPTOR has dropped us some eggs this morning making her our 30th leo/african fatso to produce eggs this season. Fingers still crossed that we can get 40 breeding females this year. Egg wise we are up to approx 148-150 with 58 in April and 46 so far in May. So expecting a busy time for hatches in the coming weeks. Think we have 17 hatches up to today.

270. All eyes on the Veldrome as latest star emerges.

And here is our latest star Veldrome who broke the egg shell approx 2200 hrs 18th May 2012. Next morning there he/she was fully dry and alert strutting around the birth container. Another nice little red eye Tremper eclipse to our growing collection. mum is Jungle Jane with the papa being Diabl Blanco Max Planck who we have used to sire all our Tremper lines this season. Well apart from our sunglows. Incuabtion period was 54 days and hatch weight was 4 gram. also worth a mention that the sibling egg has hatched this morning 20th May 2012.

Sunday, 13 May 2012

269. Caesium the prodigal Leo comes back home.

This little tinker went AWOL during January 2012. She was residing in our insulated loft where most of our herps are,so not too easy to track down. Well not until this morning when we were in the eaves looking around and their she was. From the look of her she does not seem to have suffered from her ordeal and weighed at 41 grams is about 7 grams down on when she went missing. Looks like she found a nice warm place amongst the insulation to bed down for the winter. Now all we have to do is find her viv mate Spotz and we will be back up to a full crew.

269. Meet the parents (38) for the 2012 breeding season.

This couple are another pair we have just separated after we put them together a week, or maybe two, ago. Probably the later as the female is clearly laden with eggs. Both are Tremper sunglows. The male is Helios, the one with the blemish, and he came to us from Jason Barnard (reptilebreeder.com). He has already proved himself from an earlier mating this year. The female is Roma who was produced by norwich Leopard Geckos.

Saturday, 12 May 2012

268. Meet the parents (37) for the 2012 breeding season

We put these two together last week and then forgot to post them up as a record of our 2012 breeding pairs. Both are Bells and the big male is Einstein who as already done some breeding service this year. The female is Drill bit who is a first time breeder and came to us from a fellow club member at the Eastern Herpetological Society. From checking this afternoon looks like eggs are on the way and we are just about to put Drill bit into a maternity box.

267. Weekend babe

Just found this babe in the incubator this morning (12/05/2012). Given it the name of Frosby. Parents are Serena and Max Planck. Estimate the hatch weight is 2-3 gram. Gone onto estimating hatch weight due to our scales not being very efficient. Incubation period was 51 days. This is the first time we have produced offspring from Serena as she is quite a frustating woman due to always dropping her eggs on paper under her hide. she won't use the blinkling moss nesting box. Hence by the time we find the eggs they are usually not in the best shape.

266. Simply the best so far

The cutey below certainly is the best looking Leo we have hatched out in the 2012 breeding season to date. It is a red eyed Tremper eclipse complete with Jungle patternation. likely this will fade with age but pretty sure it will still be a great looking animal as it matures. also het for Diablo Blanco from papa Max Planck. the Jungle effect must come from the yummy mummy Jungle rock who looked pretty much identical at birth. Incubation was 59 days (hatch 10/05/2012)so low temperature development and a likely female. She/he is also the sibling of the baby in post 264. Hatch weight a nice rotund 4 gram. very likely we will hold onto this babe as we are keen to increase our stock of Tremper Leos with random/jungle patternation.

Wednesday, 9 May 2012

265. This is Relay

This baby is the sibling of Shot Putt shown in post 262. Apart from an extra days incubation all the biographic details are the same.

264. Red eyed Tremper eclipses (RETE) are back on the available list

It has been a long time coming but worth the wait to get our first RETE of the year. He/she is pictured below and has been christened Pole Vault. Also proves out both parents, Max Planck (Diablo Blanco) and Jungle Rock (Jungle RETE). Incubation period was 58 days so long and slow so probably female. Weight at breakout was 4 gram.

263. Fancy a bit of Judo.

This is Judo the second normal wild type hatchling from yesterday (08/05/2012). Parents are Nell (hi-yellow) and Mohammad (normal wild caught bloodline), both being breeding stalwarts. Hatch weight came in at 4 gram, so quite chunky, after an incubation period of 57 days.

262. Welcome to Shot Putt

This babe that we have named shot Putt hatched out yesterday (08/05/2012)teatime. Parents are Whoopi (normal wild type) and Kabul (normal Afghanicus wild type) who are both carry no hets. Both parents have some unique rugged wild type patterns so we are hoping for the same from this baby. Incubation period was 49 days and hatch weight was 3 gram.

261. The great escaper has been apprehended

Here is the full view image of the Leo half in half out of the egg in post 260 made earlier today. A definite normal wild type from Mohammad (normal wild caught bloodline)and Nell (hi-yellow). Nice and chubby at 4 gram after a 56 day incubation. on the balance of probabilities incubation duration and low temperature this one is a likely female. Has been christened Slalom as we continue with our 2012 Olympic theme.

260. The Great Escape

Just been in the gecko facility (summer house)and caught this little un ohalf way out of the egg. Full picture to follow in a couple of hours.

259. Views go through the 5000 barrier.

Blimey we must be getting popular as we have just gone through the 5000 views barrier. Do we get a medal from blogger?

258. Sibling supersnow from previous post

This little bit of black magic is the sibling of the supersnow shown in post 257. Therefore same parents and same weight. Only difference is 2 days extra incubation with hatch being yesterday lunch time 6th May 2012. goes by the name of Olympiad.

257. More supersnow in Lowestoft.

Yes we are doing quite well for supersows this year. Below is Olympic who hatched out last Friday 4th May. That was after a 49 day incubation period. Another small babe at 1 gram which will rtequire a bit of attention to get established. The parents are Fanta and Slurm. Also the sibling egg hatched into another supersnow yesterday 6th May.

256. Lowestoft Afghan ayslum seeker commits bigamy for third time in 12 months

Yes our naughty little pure bred Afghanicus Leo Kabul has entered into another relationship. The evidence is caught on camera below. He is the dark wild type with the typical rugged Afghanicus markings. He came to us at great expense from PACHERP back in 2010 via the September Hamm show. Next to him is Cumbria who would probably be described as a hi-yellow. Kabul's previous pairings have produced some very attractive and raw looking wild types which we have had absolutely no problem selling to eager buyers.

255. Meet the parents (35) for the 2012 breeding season

We are trying to chubb up as many of our young female Leos, and Fatsos, as we can in the next few weeks to meet our 55 gram minimum breeding weight before we hit the height of summer and the willingness to breed diminishes. Below is another female we have put with our red stripe hope Dinkum who we have introduced on a previous post. The female is Revel who is a fairly plain Jane hypo. Bearing in mind that producing red stripes is a bit of a hit or miss, and more luck than judgement affair we are hoping this speculative pairing might move some of Dinkums redness onto any offspring that results. So double fingers crossed on this one.

254. Meet the parents (34) for the 2012 breeding season

This is another pair of African fatsos we have brought together in the last couple of days to see if they can get it on. The male is the albino called Nelson who we have already paired with 3 females earlier in the season. That leaves the other one which is a plain banded wild type who goes by the name of Tunis. In this image she is in shed mode. Fatsos are not as easy to breed compared with Leopard geckos so fingers are crossed. That said it looks like we have got a couple of good eggs from a pairing made by Nelson and another albino.

252. First plain Jane Mack Snow of the 2012 season.

This babe is literally fresh out of the egg. Checked the incubator at lunch today(17/04/2012)and she/he wasn't there. probably a female, bearing in mind the low temperature of incubation and its lengthy period. However, checking again at about 16:30 and we were greeted by this charming little babe. Parents are Slurm and Fanta who produced us Microfiche the supersnow last month. Incubation at 29 degrees celcius for this Leo took 52 days and hatch weight was 3 gram. In keeping with our olympic theme we have named him/her javelin. Sibling egg looks in fair condition so fingers are crossed for another hatch soon.

251. Yippe we are past 250 blogger posts.

Time to crack open a bottle of bubbly as we pass the quarter of a grand post barrier?

250. We hope broken hides is not a fore warning of broken eggs?

Just got a mail order delivery of 6 exo terra medium hides and some other goods. As you can see in the image with this post 4 of the hides are broken as the packing was pretty ropey. The stockist has agreed to replace them so no problem there. Lets hope it is not a bad omen similar to the one at Aintree last Saturday when Synchronised threw AP Mckoy off the saddle before the race.

249. Latest Gecko olympian

In celebration of the olympics being staged in Blighty for the first time since 1948, we shall this year mostly be choosing the names for our 2012 babes from words associated with the Olympics. So far we have a Taekwondo. And now we have a Discus (below) who high jumped out of the egg yesterday (10/04/2012). She is the sibling of the babe in post 248. So an extra days incubation and weight was 2 gram.

Monday, 9 April 2012

248. Easter egg hatch

This little one gram wonder chipped her way out of the egg this morning (09/04/2012). Must be a Tremper sunglow as both the proud parents (Currant bun & Helios) are sunglows. Incubation took 51 days. Given her the name Taekwondo. The sibling egg looks viable so fingers are crossed for another quick hatch.

Saturday, 7 April 2012

247. Its fortnightly weigh in.

It's Saturday and fortnightly weigh day. Hoping that one or two of our virgin females will have got to the Lowestoft Leopard Geckos standard breeding weight of 55 grams. If so we will be pairing up with some of our males that are current lying about on their bellies and twidling their thumbs. Time for them to earn a living.

Wednesday, 4 April 2012

246. Where are they now?

Always nice to find out how our hatchlings got on after they moved on to new homes. Here is a link to a current piccy of Uno, so called as she was our first hatchling of the 2011 season. Even If i do say so my self a definite quality uptown girl http://www.reptileforums.co.uk/forums/lizard-classifieds/832085-leopard-geckos-1-3-four.html

244. Meet the parents (33) for the 2012 breeding season.

We have just (03/04/2012) paired up these two African fatsos to see if they can produce some nice offspring. The normal wild type stripe is Tulu whom we obtained from Worcester morphs back in Autumn 2009. She is a bit dimunitive, so we have been reluctant to breed her in previous years. However, we have now come to the conclusion that she is now as big as she will get, and just naturally small, hence safe to breed. The male is Nelson a proven albino stripe who has been featured in earlier posts.

Saturday, 24 March 2012

243. Meet the parents (32) for the 2012 breeding season.

Just recently got Bingo, the normal with a hint broad striping, up to breeding weight and paired her up with Dinkum the lighter coloured one in the photo. He has red shading in him and we are hoping he can combine this with Bingos' bold patterns in any offspring produced. Both of these Leos are from our own breeding stock.

Monday, 12 March 2012

242. Introducing Thimble

This 1/2 gram tiny tot was found hatched out Sunday morn 12/03/2012 and is our second hatch this season. Also second miracle in a week as just like the hatch a few days earlier the egg it came out of was completely knackered. Parents are Currant bun and Helios both being Tremper sunglows, so same for this babe. Hatch period was 48 days.

Saturday, 10 March 2012

241. Meet the parents (31) for the 2012 breeding season

Here we have two of our African fat tails that we have just paired up. The lighter shaded fatty is Nelson Mandala who we have had for nearly three and a half years. The female is Polokwane who we obtained as a 12 gram pup at the June 2010 Doncaster show. Her name came from on of the venues used at the 2010 world cup in South Africa. We always try and give our fattys an African name. Nelson is proven and we had 6 babies from his pairing with Winnie in 2010. Sadly, though some eggs were produced, we drew a blank with him and Winnie last year. For sure it is not quite as easy breeding fattys compared to Leos.

Thursday, 8 March 2012

240. Meet the parents (30) for the 2012 breeding season

Here is a piccy of a couple more Leos we have paired up this afternoon. The supersnow (black and white)is Fantasia who is from our own produced offspring. She is seen here with Slurm a Mack Bell who we got from Phil of Slurms geckos (Hatfield)at the Essex show in Chelmsford last September (2011). We already have a supersnow offspring, earlier in the week, from one of Slurms earlier pairings. So possibly a few more if these two can foster a sincere and loving relationship based on trust. lol!

Tuesday, 6 March 2012

239. 0.1 gram miracle hatchling sets the ball rolling for 2012 season.

0.1 gram is what it says on our scales for this babe which is one reason to call it a miracle. Second reason is because the egg it came out of was one of the most mankeyish and wankeyish we have had, being dented, creased, and all shrivelled up. There was lots of fluid left behind in the egg explaining the small mal nurished babe that emerge with its cord trailing behind. Having hatched last night (5th March 2012) it has survived overnight and looks in good form this morning, so fingers are crossed. Calling her/him Microfiche on account of size. Parents are Slurm (Mack Bell) and Fanta (Mack Tremper we think) and incubation period was 48 days in a SIM's box.

Friday, 2 March 2012

238. Meet the parents (29) for the 2012 breeding season.

Max Plancks latest pairing is show here which also marks the conclusion of phase 1 of this years breeding program. Phase 2 will consist of pairing revisits where females are showing no sign of being gravid. Also the pairing of novice female breeders and chunky (i.e. 55+ gram) early season 2011 hatches. As for the female in this piccy she goes by the name of Serena a very attractive Tremper. We got her off a Danish breeder at the Hamm show back in March 2010. We did breed her last year and got quite a few eggs from her but they completely flat from her trampling on them. Hoping for much better things this year as we are sure she could produce some corker babies.

Thursday, 1 March 2012

237. leopard Geckos available March 2012

We have just updated the available Leos on my website. Stock is getting pretty low with just 8 hatches from 2011 remaining available and probably just another couple to add. Normally I like to keep a stock of at least 20 all year round so buyers have a good selection so fingers are double crossed for some babies next week. Our available page link/address is below.

235. Lucky 13?

Two eggs from Petula this morning takes our tally up to 13 for the 2012 season and we are on red alert today for more eggs on account that the weather is extremely mild and forecast to reach 17 celcius in some parts of the UK. For those holding on to their eggs today is the day we might get them. To date for this season we have 5 females that have now produced eggs. Sadly quite a lot have been infertile or poor qaulity.

233. Meet the parents (28) for the 2012 breeding season

Its that cheeky chap Max Planck once more. This time with Micra, so named as she registered 1 gram at hatch in 2010. If we recall correctly she may be het for Diablo Blanco to go with her APTOR visual wares. This is Maxies penultimate girlfriend for phase 1 of the 2012 breeding season. He might get a crack at some of our chubby juveniles later on in the season if they reach our minimum breeding weight requirement (55 gram.)

Sunday, 19 February 2012

232. EHS Norwich show 8th July 2012

Our local reptile club is the EHS and are pleased to announce. Table booking forms for the EHS Norwich show 8th July are now available and being emailed to previous exhibitors. Any body else interested in running a table can obtain one by contacting EHS club chair Colin Ware via

Just to add tables are 6ft x 2ft and £20 per table. So pretty cheap and a must for local breeders or anybody offering reptile products in the Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambs, Lincolnshire and Essex locale. i.e. cheapest publicity you will get to promote your animals or products and your own personal charm so that when local yokels want something you have got they will remember you.

Saturday, 18 February 2012

231. Meet the parents(27) for the 2012 breeding season

Yet again our chief slapper Max Planck the Diablo Blanco has been cavorting and sowing his seeds amongst the girls. this time he is caught on camera with Jungle rock. Her name is on account of her Jungle pattern at hatch. She looks a bit more like what some would call a RAPTOR stripe as the adult she is now. What with these two both having solid red eyes (eclipse) and her patterning we are hoping for some really nice offspring.

230. We are into double figures

Courtousy of 2 eggs from Currant bun our female Tremper sunglow which we collected this morning our egg count for the 2012 breeding season is now 11. We were expecting a few more by now as we have a shed full of girls that are heavily gravid but have been on strike due to very cold weather over the past couple of weeks. Hopefully with increasing daylight and a milder outlook for the weather egg production will pickup as we march toward March.

Wednesday, 15 February 2012

229. Meet the parents (26) for the 2012 breeding season

Another snap of Max Planck our Diablo Blanco. As you can see he has got yet another girlfriend in the form of Scarlett who is a RAPTOR with have had a few years now. Hopefully we should get some nice red eyed babies from these two.

228. 2012 breeding season update on the update

Sorry its 8 eggs we have which sounds better apart from the fact half of them look no good. Tell you what this breeding lark is not as easy as some people make it out.

227. 2012 breeding season update

six eggs in the incubator, dropped one so thats no good? Tweo more look like slugs. Weather is freezing cold and our girls have gone on strike so refusing to lay. So particularly frustrated at the moment and praying for a thaw.

226. Kind person makes us a photo album

Blimey these days it seems there is always somebody out there on the www knicking your intellectual property rights. Just noticed that some kind soul free of charge has collected all my Leo images and put them into a album for me at
http://en.topictures.com/lowestoft%20leopard%20geckos/4#Google

Init nice of them lol. Shame they have only done 8 pages to date

Tuesday, 31 January 2012

225. Meet the parents (25) for the 2012 breeding season

Blimey not that cheeky chappie Max Planck at it again is it? Sure is. In this piccy he is alongside our classy Jungle Jane who is a Jungle Tremper eclipse with a fantabulous pair of A* red eyes. We have had her a few years now and she usually passes on her jungle looks to at least a couple of her offspring every year.

224. Meet the parents (24) for the 2012 breeding season

Down below is Max Planck with one of his latest girlfriends. Tell you what he ain't half been busy just recently with the mating game. The dark female, what you might called a midnight blizzard, is our paradox spotted Anya.

Sunday, 29 January 2012

223. meet the parents (23) for the 2012 breeding season

Sitting pretty on this piccy with Helios is Lulu. She is not a sunglow but a hypo. Put these 2 together to see if we produce some brighter hypos. Lulu has been with for a few years now and was given to us for free. That ain't bad considering she is a great little breeder.

222. Meet the parents (22) for the 2012 breeding season

In this post are a Tremper sunglow pairing we have put together for this season. The smaller one is the male who we christened Helios. He is a relatively recent signing to our squad, coming from Jason Barnard at the November 2011 Doncaster show. For rhyming slang the female is called Currant bun and was one of Ray Hines offspring.

Thursday, 26 January 2012

221. Meet he parents (21) for the 2012 breeding season

We have just this minute, well almost, put these two together. To the right is Kabul our male Afghanicus that we imported from PACHERP during 2010. On his left is our own bred Whoopi who is a nice raw looking wild type with some micro spotting and an interesting mix of colouration. God knows what they will produce us if they get it on.
