102. A handful of new girls for breeding in 2011.

In the frames overhead is a selection of some of our new female breeders for 2011. All of them are 2010 hatchlings and now weighing in at 50 plus grams and getting porky on the back hips. So we are pretty confident we will be able to breed them in 2011. Starting at the top is Duchess who is a RAPTOR we produced from our own stock. Second in the pile is Currant bun, a Tremper sunglow bred by Ray Hine. We are still looking for a male sunglow suitor for her. Third and fourth are a standard Bell albino (Belletoni), with a regen tail, and a blizzard (Alsaka) with a tint of red in her eye, therefore a Diablo blanco. We got these two from Sazzle at the November 2010Kidderminster show.

101. Introducing new male breeding squad members for the 2011 season

From top to bottom we have Rob Roy, Isuzu, Einstein and Ahmed who have all been recruited in the last couple of months to improve and increase the range of morphs we hope to produce during 2011.
Rob Roy is a supersnow who was snapped up from a private seller in Kent with the sole purpose improving the percentage of Mack snows we get from our two female Mack snows. Fingers crossed we will also get some supersnows. He is also the spitting image of Hazel who was sold to us as a baby Diablo Blanco; she ultimately speckled up. So another breeding candidate for Rob Roy.
Isuzu was produced by us from the accidental breeding between Fanta our Phantom and a run of the mill hi-yellow. Overall he is a bit of a mongrel mish mash with what we think is Bell and snow genes. Maybe, well from what we can see, even broad stripe tendencies in him.
Einstein third from the top is a Bell albino with a sprinkling of broad stripe in him. He comes to us from Herpetoculture via Hamm in September 2010. He was specifically bought for breeding with our Bell albinos so we can produce that morph during 2011, and at the same time reduce the number of normals we produce.
Last in the gallery is Ahmed who has a perserved wild caught bloodline. He came to us from Eurorep via a local pet shop contact. We are looking to breed him with some of the wild caught bloodlines we produced during 2010.

100. Afghan asylum seekers celebrate their first Christmas in Lowestoft.

The two piccys above are off our Afghanicus Leopard Geckos(Eublepharis Macularius Afghanicus) that we imported from PACHERP USA via the Hamm show last September (2010). Whilst not obvious from the pictures the Afghanicus sub species are the mini-minors of the Leopard Gecko species. Average adult length is 6 inch (150mm)compared to 8- 10 inch (200 - 250mm) for the more commom Macularis Macularius varieties. The pictures were taken 25/12/2010 when Kabul the male (upper) was 39 grams while Sangin (the female (lower) was 38 gram. So all in all at these weights they are now well into adulthood and probably only a few grams from maximum size which makes them definite goers for breeding in 2011. We also have a few more normal girl friends for the male including a wild caught bloodline Macularius Macularius to see what we might get. Fingers crossed for some interesting offspring.

99. Passing of winter solistice marks beginning of 2011 breeding season.

After a period of cooling the housing temperatures of our main breeders, and following the winter solistice, today we will be raising housing temperatures and start preparing for the 2011 breeding season. Reptiles are great at sensing enviromental change and quickly pickup on the fact that the length of daylight is increasing. So as soon as housing temperatures are raised we are expecting breeding interest, and activity to begin almost straight away. Our earliest eggs were laid 22nd January this year. So fingers crossed for a similar response in 2011.

98. And now the absolute final pair of 2010 hatchlings

These two African fat tails hatched 18/10/2010 (lower) & 19/10/2010 (upper)and represent the very last animals that we hatched during 2010. Incubation period was 67 and 68 days after which both weighed in at 2 gram. These pictures were taken 22/12/2010 when the lower fatty was 8 gram and the upper was at 7 gram. Parents are Nelson (albino) and Winnie (skunk stripe).

97. And now the last two Leopard Gecko hatchlings from 2010

Here are our last leo hatchlings from the 2010 breeding season which were born 12/10/2010 (lower picture) and 14/10/2010 (upper picture). Both pictures were taken 18/12/2010 and confirm they are hypos following the complete fading of their black hatch banding. current weights are 28 gram (upper leo) and a runty 12 gram for the lower leo. Both hatched out at 2 gram on incubation day 50 and 52. the parents are Lulu (hypo) and Ringo (hi-yellow).
So thats it for our 2010 leos. Just got 2 African fat tails to upload and then everything we hatched in 2010 will be listed.

Hatch weight was 3 gram for both after a 55 & 56 day incubation. the parents for both are nero our Diablo Blanco and Trixy a chocolate Tremper.
Now just 4 more pictures and biographies to upload to complete the full set of all our babies form 2010. Nearly there.

Both are het for Diablo blanco from the sire (nero). The dam was Anya a dark midnight blizzard. The top leo hatched out 04/10/2010 after a 53 day incubation. The lower leo came 24 hours later on the 05/10/2010. Both weighed in at 3 gram.
