Lowestoft Leopard Geckos

Tuesday 31 July 2012

352. The unkown Leopard Gecko.

This is Ritola who hatched 27/07/2012, and as with the babe in post 351 the exact same situation holds as to the actual parentage. Again parent possibilities are the same as for the baby in post 351. Hatch weight looked a fairly standard 3 gram.

351. Here come the normal wild type Leos

This babe hatched out 27/07/2012 and we are not too sure who the parents
are. We have narrowed it down to either Demerara and Isuzu or Nell and Mohammad. If the former pairing that would make this baby the sibling of the Leo in post 344 (Behar) and incubation period would be 51 days. If the later pairing incubation period would be 49 days. Main thing is it is in good health and was what looked like a minimum of 3 gram at hatch and goes by the name of Rhodes.

350 Summetime but still more supersnow in Lowestoft

This is Kroton who hatched 26/07/2012 from the pairing of Maggie and Rob Roy. Incubation on this babe was 49 days and hatch weight looks about 3 gram.

349. One more Afghanicus Macularius cross

This is the sibling to the baby announced in post 347 whose biographic details we had to amend. This one hatched a later on the same day and is called Christie. Looked a good 3 gram minimum at hatch.

348. Our little sprinter see the full light of day

This is our precious little African fatso called sprinter shown, half-way in or half-way out of the egg during hatch 25/07/2012, in post 346. Parents on this little bewt are Nelson and Polokwane. Incubation period was 55 days and we would estimate just a tad under 3 gram.

Wednesday 25 July 2012

347. Meanwhile while we are waiting out popped another normal Leo.

This is BMX who we found in the incubator at the same time as we took the piccy of the African fatso in post 346. Assuming that she/he is the sibling to the baby in post 345, but will need to dig the spent egg out to confirm this. As you might see it still looks a little bit wet behind the ears with bits and bobs of perlite stuck to it. Also looks slightly smaller than its suspected sibling. Post script on this one as we assumed wrongly who the parents were. Later on when checking we discovered this one had been in a different incubation tub and that the parents were actually Cumbria and that dastardly Afghan terrorist kabul. That means incubation period was 47 days.

346. Hurry up before you get caught

Just been back to the incubator to see if the African fatso has fully emerged from the egg. As you can see from the piccy below fatsos as just as slow at hatching as in life generally and he/she is just over halfway out. Given this one the name of Sprinter.

345. OMG

Blimey just took a peek in the incubator and we have an African fatso sticking it head out of an egg. Incredible after a nil year in 2011 and half a dozen manky eggs this season. Piccy to follow when and if it gets fully out fingers and legs are crossed.

344. Good old reliable normal wild types

This is Behar who was found hatched out this morning (25/07/2012). Looks a good 3 gram following 49 days in the incubator. Parents are our ever relaible Demerara and Isuzu who are our own produced Leos.

343. Latest availability

We have just uploaded piccys and details of new 2012 hatchling Leos to our website that are approaching sale weight and will be available in the next two weeks. You can check them out at
http://lowestoftleopardgeckos.co.uk/

342. A lean week but at least we got Karelin.

Yes siry it was a poor week just gone for hatches as we seemed to have a tub full of eggs that went manky. Well apart from this baby called Karelin which hatched 20/07/2012. Not 100% sure on the parentage for this one as our records suggested it is from Blizz the blizzard and the unknown Mack RAPTOR. Unknown as Blizz came to use with eggs in the oven. Of course Mack combinations do produce some normal wild types so the stated parentage is plausible. Looked the standard 3 gram at hatch which wsa after 46 days.

Monday 23 July 2012

341. Popov skates out of the egg.

Popov shown below is the sibling to Juantorena in post 340. Same day of hatch and same parents so same biography. Looked a little chubbier at hatch and possibly a 4 gram fat git.

340. Juantorena opens up his legs and shows his class.

This is Juantorena who hatched out 16/07/2012 following 48 days in the incubator. Looks a standard 3 gram and parents are Patricia and Dallas.

339. Lowestoft's latest Afghan asyslum seeker

We have been looking for quite some time to obtain a 100% pure Afghanicus girlfriend for our 100% pure Afghan assasin Kabul. Problem being they are quite hard to come by and imports from the USA are at least $300 when all costs are included. In fact $400 for a male. Luckily we happened to fall on this bewt called Sarajah that was for sale at the Doncaster show last month. Her lineage is from a group owned by Happy Geckos over on mainland Europe. Hopefully if she progresses well and gets up to 40 gram, which is the typical weight for an female adult Afghanicus we might be able to pair her with Kabul next year.

338. We are going to tie a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree for this one!

This is Spotz who has been at large in the eves of our loft for the past 6 1/2 months. She escaped out of her enclosure when we didn't close the door correctly just after christmas/new year time. We found her late last night 17/07/2012. Clearly she found herself a nice cosy place to hide out amongst the insulation during the cold spells during winter. Weighed her this morning at 39 grams which compares to 40 grams on the sale sheet we prepared for her at the Houten show last December. We think she was about 46-48 grams when she went on walkabout. As you can see from the piccy she has a decent chubby tail so must have found some cricket or mealworm scraps to live on while on the run. From the piccy you will also see she is a super looking aberrant Leo with great shades and markings. So fantastic to have her back and really glad we didn't sell her at Houten.

337. Next day delivery for sibling

This is Tomba who is the sibling to the baby in post 336. As you will see this baby is just about to go into its first shed but asimilar pattern to its sibling can be seen. This one hatched 14/07/2012 which is the only variation it has in biographic detail to its sibling.

336. Fingers crossed for some bold striping

This baby hatched out Friday 13th July 2012 after 47 days in the incubator. Parents are Bingo and Dinkum who both exhibit bold stripe characteristics, black for the first and a slight hint of red for the latter. We already have had a couple of clutches from this paring and the babies are all remarkably very similar. This baby goes by the name of Carmona and looked a top end 2 gram or just scrapping the 3 gram mark at hatch.

Sunday 15 July 2012

335. Two Trempers in one egg tub.

There certainly was two in the egg tub on the morning 09/07/2012 and the one shown here is Pelops who is the sibling to the baby in the previous post. Therefore exactly the same biography.

334. More Tremper red eyed eclipses

This one hatched out Monday 09/07/2012 and is called Pisa. Parents are our own bred Tremper eclipse Diva and Max Planck our Diablo Blanco. Duration of the incubation was 51 days and weight at hatch is estimated at 3 gram.

Saturday 14 July 2012

333.Forget to mention this one!

Looks like we have got out of sequence with our announcements as we forgot to put up a post for this baby called Elis. He/she hatched out 05/07/2012 and is the sibling to either the baby in post 331 or 330. Time should help us to clarify the parentage and particulary when we get a good look at the eyes, as one of those pairings is a Mack RAPTOR to Mack RAPTOR. Weight on this baby at hatch looked a good 3 gram.

Thursday 12 July 2012

332. Who the Ekecheiria are you?

It is indeed Ekecheiria who hatched out 06/07/2012 after 48 days in the egg. Looks about a 3 gram mass for hatch weight. Parents are wild caught bloodline Afghanicus Kabul, and normal macularius wild type, with large spot looks, Meriva.

331. The blazing white Leos all come at once.

This is Oinomaos who is the sibling to Blankers-Koen announced to the world a couple of posts earlier. This babe hatched out 05/07/2012 and within minutes of discovering the baby revealed on the last post. Biography is the same as Blankers-Koen apart from the addition of an extra day in the incubator. looks about 2 gram and chasing 3.

330. Looking like a Mack RAPTOR

Given this blazing white babe the name of Comaneci. Hatched out 05/07/2012 after 46 days in the incubator. Looking at his/her eyes we think they are red and maybe a Mack RAPTOR from the same morph parents. We say maybe as we left this one in incubator tub for about 20 minutes whilist attending to something else. Low and behold wheen we looked again there was a second blazing white babe had hatched out which was almost identical and we couldn't be 100% sure which was which. Hopefully we should be clear on this as they grow. Parents are we think Rob Roy and Hazel. Quite pleased to get some offspring from Hazel as she has been a non breeder in two previous attempts. Think he/she is just about a 3 gram hatch.

Tuesday 10 July 2012

329. By the rivers of Alpheios

Alpheios pictured here says hello to the world after a recent hatch out 04/07/2012. Parents are Meriva and our pesky little chap, pure Afghanicus mind, Kabul. Fairly small at hatch and probably just tipping 3 gram after a 46 day incubation.

328. Fanny Blankers - Koen switches to hurdles at 2012 Olympics

Here you can see her training for London 2012 after an impressive hatch out of the egg 04/07/2012. Likely to be quite accomplished at the hurdles due to her pedigree line with parents being Blizz and the unknown Mack RAPTOR. We say unknown as Blizz is a recent aquistion as part of a swap with Norwich Leopard geckos and she arrived with a bun in her oven. Since when she has not stopped making them, or in simple spaek lets just say she is a fantastic layer. Anyhow incubation for Blankers-Koen was 49 days and she looked a good 3 gram at hatch.

327. Leo availability

After selling a few more of our 2012 hatchlings at the Norwich show we are once more a bit short of stock for the moment. Just a couple of Trempers, one standard banded and a sunglow currently available which are approxiamately 14 grams. We are anticipating we will be able to make wider selection available in the coming days once we have caught up with things following the show on Sunday.

326. What a super duper blazer of some sort!

This is Nurmi who is the sibling to Zatopek shown on the previous post. Can't be 100% sure as we have not had the opportunity to do an eyeshot, but they may be red mince pies. Will definately keep a close eye on the eyes. Looks a good 3 grams and biography is the same as Zatopek. Well apart from being a couple of hours younger.

325. Zatopek picks up the Olympic torch relay in Lowestoft.

This is our little Mack snow Olympic legend Zatopek who hatched out 03/07/2012. Parents are Slurm and Fantasia which means he/she must have a bit of Bell gene lurking about on the DNA. Incubation took 50 days and she looks a healthy 3 gram hatchling.

Monday 9 July 2012

324. First of July.

This is Derny who hatched out 1st July 2012 after what we think was a 49 day incubation. We say think as we are not 100% sure who the parents are for this baby. It may be one of Demerara's and the sibling of Barani whose hatch details are a few posts previous. The again we think it might be one of Lulu's. We shouolld have a better idea when this one grows as Lulu was paired with a sunglow so we are expecting any of her offspring to be brightened up a bit. Weight at hatch looked about 3 gram.

323. Definitely one of Nell's

After a bit of a mix up we are now fairly confident that this baby is one of Nell's and the sibling to the baby in post 320. It hatched out a few hours later 30/06/2012 and was the fourth hatch of the day. so biography is pretty much identical to the baby in post 320. It has the name of Ace.

Wednesday 4 July 2012

322. Rhythmick jumping jac gymnast.

This little porker is Rhytmick or Rhythmicki if it turns out to be a girl. Hatch date on this one was 30/06/2012. The dark banding is brown so looks like a hypo which is expected from the parent combination of Patio and Slurm. So should also be carry some Bell genes. Certainly the fattest we have had hatch for a while and at least a whopping 4 grams. Again as might be expected as Patio the Dam is also a big fat chubber and produces large eggs.Incubation for this babe took 50 days.

321. One we thought was from Nell.

Sorry but we had to edit this post as we originally stated the wrong parents. Parents for this one are Demerara and Isuzu we think! Assigned he or she the name of Barani. Hatch weight was estimated at 3 grams and that was after 48 days in the incubator.

320. Pivot point

Introducing Pivot who hatched 30/06/2012. Parents are Nell and Mohammad so should be plenty of wild rugged looks in this one. Incubation took 50 days and she/he looked about 3 grams at the point of hatch.

Tuesday 3 July 2012

319. A nice Dobok for Taekwondo fans.

And a lovely Dobok he/she is who hatched out 29/06/2012. She is the sibling to Fliffuss who we introduced a few posts earlier. So virtually the same biography apart from a few hours extra incubation in the egg. Also looks a little smaller and about 2 gram at hatch. This was our fifth and final hatchling for 29/06/2012.

Sunday 1 July 2012

318. Time to scull to a Gold medal.

Scull pictured below was our fourth of five hatches 29/06/2012. We got a bit mixed up with the eggs but concluded she is the offspring of Lulu and Helios. If so this one should turn out as a bright looking hypo. Incubation period was 49 days and weight at hatch was estimated at 3 gram.

317. The anchor leg.

This is another of our hatches from 29/06/2012. He/she answers to the name of Anchor and looked a nice chuky 4 grammer at hatch. Incubation took 49 days. Parents are Slurm and Patio so should be het for Bell. The dark bands are brown so expecting this baby will be a hypo.

316. nearly show time!

Well folks just one single absolutely and totally solitary week, AKA 7 days until, the Norwich reptile show . Organised by the Eastern Herpetological society for breeders to sell surplus stock. 8th July at the Norfolk showground Norwich. Full public admission £4 adults, £2 16 - 10s and free under 10s. doors open 10:00 till 3.30PM. Best selection of Herps, Amphibs and Inverts plus equipment you will see under one roof anywhere in East Anglia.

315. A bit of Fliffuss

This is Fliffuss who hatched 29/06/2012. Strange name but one we picked up from some jargon used in an Olympic sport. Further explained by us using words and terms that have an Olympic association to name our Leos this season. Anyway this baby is from Serena and Max Planck. Nice to get somemore offspring from Serena this season has she has proved very awkward to breed previously. She absolutely refuses to lay eggs in the nest box and we often find them under her hide and usually too late. Incubation for this baby was 51 days and she looks about the average 3 gram.

314. It's an epidemic of red eyed Tremper eclipses

This is Smash who hatched out 29/06/2012 She/he is the sibling to Riposte in the previous post. Biographically the only difference between these two clutch mates is an extra days incubation.
